Welcome to Bible Bridge Ministry!
I'm glad you're here! This is Rachel, your host and facilitator, here to tell you more about how this site started. The Short Version Earlier in my life I was introduced to the wonderfully enriching experience of group Bible study, and it has changed my life. I have met with various groups over the years in coffee shops, dorm rooms, church basements, parks, restaurants, and living rooms. I have shared laughter, stories, tears, and prayers with people from all walks of life as we have come together to study God's Word. It has made a profound impact on my life and faith to be in community with other people who are following Christ or interested in learning more about Christianity, and I intended to continue participating in group Bible study throughout my life. However, life sometimes makes this very hard to do! Between work, family, health, time, and transportation, there is no shortage of obstacles that get in the way of people participating in "traditional" Bible studies. I have seen firsthand a need for alternative means of creating Christian community and educational opportunities outside of a one-time, in-person event, and I decided to do something about it! The Rest of the Story... I have experienced this need myself when my full-time (and then some) work schedule kept me from participating in Bible studies at my local church. And when moving to a new community meant we were visiting various congregations and didn't have a church home for a while. And when my baby was born and suddenly the idea of getting out of the house, let alone sitting with her for an hour and being able to focus on adult conversation (while trying to keep her entertained), made attending a Bible study quite daunting. Along with my own reasons for needing this alternative form of fellowship and education, I have also found wonderful people who love God and want to study the Bible and have connections with other Christians, but they are challenged by health issues, lack of transportation, and caregiving responsibilities, among other things, that get in the way of attending a "traditional" Bible study that is offered at a set time in a particular location. Seeing these challenges, after prayerful consideration, I started building an online opportunity for anyone who was interested to come together and study God's Word--a new form of Bible study that extends beyond the bounds of time and geography. It is a work in progress, as we all are through God's grace. And like any good ministry, it continues to evolve and innovate to meet the needs of those it serves and fulfill its mission of making disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Your prayers for this ministry are appreciated, and your questions and feedback are welcomed via the Contact page. You can also let me know there if you are interested in joining an online Bible study group. You can find a list of available groups on the Community page. Thanks for visiting! |
